Stone & Magnanini Partner Amy Walker Wagner co-presented for the Bloomberg BNA live CLE webinar “Electronically Stored Information & Competence in 2016: What Must an Attorney Know That She Doesn’t Know and How Does She Learn It?” held on July 20, 2016. The panel’s presentation focused on the multiple areas of an attorney’s practice that are impacted by electronically stored information (“ESI”) and how an attorney can competently manage ESI with confidence. The webinar aimed to benefit diverse practitioners such as litigators, transactional attorneys, and in-house counsel who coordinate litigation with retained counsel. The panel offered guidance on topics relating to ESI such as understanding what questions to ask of clients, co-counsel, adversaries, vendors and experts in litigation, and how to communicate with your client and others when engaged in transactional practice. The panel explored the maintenance of confidential communications and avoidance of waiver of privilege in handling ESI, and ethical issues and restrictions on attorney advertising and the use of the Internet and social media when dealing with third parties and the public.
